On June 8, 2017, Walburga Fröhlich and Klaus Candussi received the "Social Award" for special and outstanding achievements in the field of social business and social franchise from the Austrian Franchise Association.

The Social Award is awarded annually by the Austrian Franchise Association and the Senate of Economy, the laudatory speech was held by Hans Harrer.

TUN-Fonds 2018 Award for the capito TopEasy News

The barrier-free news overview convinced the expert jury of the TUN Fund

The TUN-Fonds award ceremony took place for the eighth time in January 2019. The jury, headed by Dr. Franz Fischler, former EU Commissioner, honors projects that combine digitization and sustainability and move "in the triangle of ecology, economy and social issues". The main topics of the applicants include climate protection, information and communication technology, environmental, nature and species conservation and energy efficiency.

capito was able to secure second place among the many competitors with the "TopEasy News". TopEasy News was produced in cooperation with APA (Austria Presse Agentur).

Around 24 million people in Austria, Germany and Switzerland cannot read well. TopEasy News gives readers a daily news overview, which is available in three different language levels. At the touch of a fingertip, the text can easily be displayed in language level A2 (explained in an easily understandable way), language level B1 (colloquial language) or as an original APA message. With the help of TopEasy News, complex messages are made easy to understand, thus promoting accessibility and inclusion.

The TopEasy News can be read both in the capito app and via integration on websites via iFrame. Use is free of charge in all cases. The news is updated daily from Monday to Friday in the late afternoon.

Among the other winners of the evening was the app "obono", which was awarded first place for its electronic receipt system. Second place went ex aequo with capito to the "goUrban" platform, which is entirely dedicated to the concept of mobility sharing. A special prize was awarded to "BeeSaver".

atempo is SDG Pioneer 2016

Together with Ashoka, Gugler, Pessl Instruments and whatchado, atempo represents Austria at the international competition for innovative companies. The five nominees are distinguished by their outstanding contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the global goals for sustainable development of the United Nations.

Erasmus+ Award for atempo education

On December 2, 2015, atempo Bildung received the Erasmus+ Award from the National Agencies Lifelong Learning and Youth in Action for its project "Inclusive Education with Tablets".

Best Practice Award for capito at the Zero Conference 2018

TRIGOS Nomination for the atempo Group

The atempo group was nominated for the TRIGOS 2019 in the category "Social Innovation & Future Challenges".

Since 2004, companies that combine business with responsibility have been honored with the renowned TRIGOS Award. In selecting the nominees, a special focus is placed on innovative concepts and sustainability.

The atempo group was nominated for the award because of its many inclusive solutions. Especially the capito App and the TopEasy News, which were developed in cooperation with APA (Austria Presse Agentur), were praised.

World Summit Award for the capito App 2017

The capito app is the Austrian winner in the category "Inclusion and Empowerment" of the "World Summit Award" in Vienna. The capito App offers an innovative solution to make written information accessible to people at their respective language level. With the help of a QR-code, users are able to select the right lanuguage level on their smartphone, individually tailored to their specific needs.

Walburga Fröhlich and Klaus Candussi are now Ashoka Fellows!

Walburga Fröhlich and Klaus Candussi were appointed Ashoka Fellows on December 3, 2015.

Ashoka supports outstanding people with an entrepreneurial spirit who revolutionize their sector with their ideas and solve the most urgent problems of our society as "Ashoka Fellows".

After successful admission to the Ashoka network, Ashoka promotes the growth and impact of its Fellows with strategy and know-how consulting, an individual scholarship for three years from the international network, support in scaling and internationalization programs and professional pro bono support for its partners. This way, the Fellows can constantly expand their entrepreneurial radius of action.

"Walburga and Klaus are a great addition to our network," says Marie Ringler, Managing Director of Ashoka Austria and European Co-Leader. "Walburga is also the first female Fellow in Austria - a strong and important sign. We hope there will be many more to come".

atempo impact report awarded with the ASRA 2015

The atempo impact report, prepared in accordance with the Social Reporting Standard, received the highest honors: it was awarded the ASRA.

atempo was awarded the ASRA for the 2014 impact report.

The award was given to those companies that have implemented the demand for a balanced and appropriate presentation of their sustainability performance in an exemplary manner. It was especially emphasized that atempo's impact report is the first Austrian sustainability report that explicitly compares performance and impact.

The ASRA 2015 was awarded to those Austrian companies that have implemented the demand for sustainable management in an exemplary manner in the 2014 business year and have presented it transparently in their sustainability report.

The award is presented by the Chamber of Chartered Accountants and Tax Consultants in cooperation with the Institute of Austrian Certified Public Accountants, the Ministry of Life, the Federal Environment Agency, the Federation of Austrian Industry and respACT - austrian business council for sustainable development, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and the Austrian Society for Environment and Technology.

The aim of ASRA is to promote the trend towards sustainability reporting at international level in Austria and to draw attention to innovative reports. The ASRA was awarded for the 16th time this year.

International award for Walburga Fröhlich

Walburga Fröhlich, founder and CEO of the social enterprise atempo, is a winner of the "EU Prize for Women Innovators". She was the only Austrian to reach the finals and took third place with a prize money of € 30,000.

Although many women work in research, development and business, there are still too few who develop their own creative business ideas and bring them to market - according to the European Commission.

This is why the "EU Prize for Women Innovators", endowed with a total of €200,000, was announced. Because: the European Union promotes equal opportunities for women and wants to put the spotlight on representatives of the supposedly weaker sex, who are particularly distinguished by their innovative strength and entrepreneurial spirit: "Women are a motor for Europe's competitiveness. Only with them will it be possible to master the social challenges of our time," say the organizers of the innovation competition.

Walburga Fröhlich is the first female entrepreneur from the social sector to be honored.

Together with Klaus Candussi, Walburga Fröhlich founded the social enterprise atempo in 2001. The guiding idea and core business is the equality of people. For this purpose atempo develops and sells products and services that make life easier for people with and without disabilities.

Under the brand capito - accessible information - atempo offers translations of difficult texts into a simple language. Via the capito App, this easily understandable information is also available on smartphones.

nueva - user-oriented evaluation - is concerned with checking quality standards in homes and workshops for people with disabilities. The consistent digitization of these services has now been recognized by the commission as a special social innovation.

As a social entrepreneur, Walburga Fröhlich built up a social franchise network for capito and nueva, which now includes around 80 partners in the German-speaking world.

"The winners are truly inspiring women who have developed ideas that have been successful on the market and at the same time improve people's lives. I am glad that our prize has recognized their outstanding achievements," said Carlos Moedas, EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation at the award ceremony in Brussels on June 21.

The winners - first place went to Gabrielle Colucci (Italy), second place to Alicia Asin Perez from Spain - were selected by an independent jury of experts following an open call for entries in autumn 2017. The jury consisted of independent experts from the fields of business, venture capital, entrepreneurship and science. 122 entries were submitted from across the EU and countries associated with Horizon 2020, the EU funding program for research and innovation, which awards the prize money for the awards.
