A special edition of 20,000 copies of “Asterix at the Olympic Games” was published for the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023, the largest sports competition for people with intellectual and multiple disabilities.
The special feature: The texts were written in easy-to-understand language and checked for comprehensibility by people with learning difficulties.
The German version was produced in collaboration between capito Berlin and Egmont Ehapa Verlag. The English version was created by capito Graz. The drawings were not changed. The booklet guarantees an adventurous reading journey for everyone thanks to its simple spelling and translation into easy-to-read language.

What is different in the special edition?
“Asterix at the Olympic Games” is a popular comic that tells the adventures of Asterix and his friend Obelix during the ancient Olympic Games. The translation into easy-to-understand language is important so that people with learning difficulties or other impairments can also enjoy this story.
The content is the same as in the original, but with few foreign words and simple sentences. For example, a “banquet” becomes a “feast”. The simplification makes the plot easier to understand and people with different linguistic abilities and reading experience can also enjoy the story.
