TUN-Fonds 2018 Award for the capito TopEasy News

The barrier-free news overview convinced the expert jury of the TUN Fund

The TUN-Fonds award ceremony took place for the eighth time in January 2019. The jury, headed by Dr. Franz Fischler, former EU Commissioner, honors projects that combine digitization and sustainability and move "in the triangle of ecology, economy and social issues". The main topics of the applicants include climate protection, information and communication technology, environmental, nature and species conservation and energy efficiency.

capito was able to secure second place among the many competitors with the "TopEasy News". TopEasy News was produced in cooperation with APA (Austria Presse Agentur).

Around 24 million people in Austria, Germany and Switzerland cannot read well. TopEasy News gives readers a daily news overview, which is available in three different language levels. At the touch of a fingertip, the text can easily be displayed in language level A2 (explained in an easily understandable way), language level B1 (colloquial language) or as an original APA message. With the help of TopEasy News, complex messages are made easy to understand, thus promoting accessibility and inclusion.

The TopEasy News can be read both in the capito app and via integration on websites via iFrame. Use is free of charge in all cases. The news is updated daily from Monday to Friday in the late afternoon.

Among the other winners of the evening was the app "obono", which was awarded first place for its electronic receipt system. Second place went ex aequo with capito to the "goUrban" platform, which is entirely dedicated to the concept of mobility sharing. A special prize was awarded to "BeeSaver".
